Blencathra is a medium wheel based Mercedes Sprinter offering a bright white and cool grey contemporary interior and she is an absolute pleasure to drive.

Blencathra provides a fixed double bed with the option of a third bed if required. She has a toilet and an optional instant hot water shower. Her other features are a pull out oak table, comfy seating for 4, top quality dining accessories, lots of storage space and a large garage area.

She offers hirers space to enjoy lovely summer days or cosy up in winter for a romantic getaway, as a couple wild camping or as a group of friends. She is fully off-grid with 300 watts of solar and a battery to battery charger which means her leisure battery charges whilst driving and whilst the suns out.

Located 5 minutes from the M60/M66, Blencathra is perfectly located to explore the Peak District, Wales, Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District- you could actually visit Blencathra, in Blencathra! She is also a popular van to hire en-route to beautiful Scotland.

There is a space for you to leave your car when picking up Blencathra or if you prefer to come by train or plane then the nearest train station (Radcliffe) is 5 minutes away and Manchester airport is 30 minutes away. We offer collection from both to help our hirers.

If you would like to pick up earlier or drop off later then we can accommodate this at £12.50 per hour extra if you would like this option.

You will be given a handover tour upon collection where you will be shown how to use the campervan. We will also provide instructional videos and a manual for your reference.

Location

We are located on the outskirts of Manchester, 5 minutes off the M60/M66 and 5 minutes from Radcliffe metrolink train station. Exact location will be given once a booking has been made.

Daily Mileage Allowance 

Included in every hire is a generous 200 miles per day mileage allowance which accrues for the duration of the trip e.g. if you do 300 miles on 1 day and 100 miles on another you we will be ok. Mileage exceeding 200 miles per day will be chargeable at 20p per mile. 

Deposit

Our standard deposit is £500. Occasionally it needs to be slightly higher if you do not meet the standard hirer criteria. 

Insurance Excess

Our standard insurance excess is £1000 for which you will be responsible for in the event of an accident or damage. This may be higher in certain circumstances but we will confirm if that is ever the case. The excess is only payable if there is any damage. 

Payment Terms

20% of the booking amount secures your booking

Balance of the booking due 30 days before your booking starts

Security Deposit is due 3 days before your booking

Payments can be taken online on this website or directly by bank transfer

Driver Hire Criteria & Eligibility 

Our self drive hire insurance covers drivers which meet the following criteria: 

Age: 23yrs-75yrs

Driving licence type - Full UK or EU licenses (other licenses will likely be accepted but we will need to refer them to the insurers first. This may result in a higher excess) 

Length Held: Minimum 2 years

Driving offences: No more than 6 points and up to 2 minor offences 

Claims: No more than 1 claim in the past 5 years 

All named drivers must be present to collect the campervan so they can sign the hirer agreement. 

If you do not meet the above terms please contact us before making a booking and we may be able to refer you to the insurers to get you covered.

Blencathra began life as a commercial panel van before she was bought to convert. She was well looked after and serviced with low mileage.

She was been converted according to Brown Bird's signature Scafell design which is the same layout they lived in for over 4 years.

Blencathra features their usual beautiful live edge work tops, copper features such as a hand built copper tap, copper lights and copper and oak shelves.

They know how important it is that we maximise the use of space with plenty of easy to use storage and equipment, whilst maintaining a space that feels open and easy to move around in without squeezing past each other or making up beds everyday.

They designed Blencathra to be a beautiful and easy to use campervan to ensure you have a wonderful time with her, wherever you decide to explore.
