Campervan Hire to Explore the Lake District

The lake district is one of our favourite places to go to switch off and be immersed with beauty. You can get there in just over an hour from Brown Bird HQ across the A66 which in itself is a lovely drive. We love it because it's a vast area to explore so even if you go during the busier times there are usually some spots you can go to to get away from the crowds.

We are mountain people so are naturally drawn to the hills (or fells as they are called in the lakes) We are currently trying to tick off all the Wainwrights (214 fells) which is a great way to make you explore different areas you perhaps wouldn't normally go to. We also spend time wild camping in a tent and recommend people giving it a go to really get away from it all and immerse yourself in the wild.

 Wild camping Lake District

Wild camping can be quite tricky in the lakes with lots of no overnight parking signs. We have included some park ups we know of in our hirer guide (available once you make a booking). In general it’s often easier to book a campsite in the lakes than trying to find a spot where wild camping is tolerated so bare that in mind if you were hoping for ultimate freedom. There are also some very tricky roads to negotiate like the Hardknott & Wrynose Pass and a few other mountain passes (watch out where google is sending you!) so you need to be careful when following any sort of sat nav.
